Air Gap Setting Shims for Denso AC Compressors & Denso Clones

These shims are used to set the clearance between the AC Pulley and the AC Clutch. If the gap is too large, the AC will not engage or the clutch will slip under load and rapidly wear out.

The air gap must be set correctly on any new AC clutch assembly. This is the gap between the pulley and the front clutch plate. If the gap is too large, the clutch plate won't pull-in adequately to ensure proper traction on the pulley and it will slip, and if the air gap is too small the parts may rub together creating drag and wear.

Some styles of AC clutch do not permit feeler gauges from being used to measure the gap, the approach to setting the air gap is to shim the front clutch plate so that it is just barely touching the pulley, and then measuring shims of the correct thickness to provide the required air gap and installing those.

The typical air gap needs to be between 0.014" to 0.026" (14 to 26 thou).

This package contains 3 (thin) shims of varying thickness. You may need to order more than one package of shims to obtain the correct clearance if you do not have an assortment to work with.
