Glow plugs need to be replaced as a set to maintain balanced resistance across all the glow plugs, and for them to glow evenly and not lead to a cascade failure... or the tips burning off due to one or two plugs getting too much current.
Ensure your glow system electrical connections are shiny clean and free from dirt, oil, corrosion. Check the connections at the batteries and the integrity of any glow system fusible links or fuses.
