Oil Filter - Land Cruiser 60 Series HJ60/61 2H & 12HT Engines

As a general note: some 2Hs and 12HTs have an occasional issue that shows up where the oil filters slowly loosen over time; this is mostly likely due to heating and cooling cycles.

For those running a 12HT: If you are running synthetic oils and/or using a extended oil change interval, you should check your filter for tightness at intervals past about 4,000 km.

Extended oil change are not something I would recommend for the 2H as it runs quite sooty, and the soot loading of the oil can act as an abrasive increasing internal wear in the engine.
