82C/180F Opening temperature.
• Thermostat is supplied with the gasket at no additional charge when you send us your VIN information for your vehicle as there are two possible common gaskets - one is a rubber o-ring, and the other is a metal gasket.
• No VIN info = no gasket will be shipped!
Note: Thermostat temperature ratings are the temperature at which the thermostat starts to open. It is not the temperature at which you cooling system will operate, and will not be the temperature you will see if you vehicle has an accurate temperature gauge; many other factors affect engine operating temperature.
• The factory supplied thermostat on most 2LTE & 3L applications is 88C (part number: 90916-03072).
• The thermostat in this listing is 82C, which helps keep these engines cooler as they tend to run a little too hot.
• Why does RADD Cruisers not sell the 88C thermostat? Generally speaking, these engines already run too hot, and the 82C thermostat gives the cooling system a little extra advantage at keeping the engine cool under load and on hot days. In our experienced opinion, and having repaired many cracked cylinder heads from overheated engines, 88C is just too hot.
