Notes: Genuine new parts simply do not fail; if there's a problem with your new converter it's an installer error - please choose a well regarded and experienced installer.

If your transmission is not being fully rebuilt, we would strongly advise that your transmission has a thorough fluid exchange performed to remove all the old fluid and then new synthetic fluid installed. A "thorough exchange" generally means the fluid exchange machine should be loaded with several more litres of fluid (3 or 4L usually does it) than the entire transmission and TC holds to ensure that the vast majority of the old fluid is removed from the system and replaced. Discuss transmission fluid replacement with your installer.

Synthetic automatic transmission fluids offer much better lifespan and better temperature tolerance than regular transmission fluid. The extra cost of synthetic fluid vs regular "dinosaur" fluid is very much worth it. If you haven't had this discussion with your installer, please ask them their preferences (and if the recommend non-synthetic transmission fluid consider a different installer if they are unable to provide a good reason).

Also, please have the installing technician check that all the lines, cooler, trans oil pan etc. are free of debris before the transmission is run, and that the transmission cooler is operating and cooling effectively, and installed in the correct orientation for proper fluid flow and air evacuation in the case of an added external cooler.

There is a clearance specification included with the new torque converter that needs to be checked during the installation.

Also, it is critical that the dowel pins aligning the transmission/bellhousing to the engine are in place. Failure to have all the dowel pins present may cause critical damage to your flex plate, torque converter or transmission.
